《金融时报》售价最高，也是最严肃的报纸。其次则是《每日电讯报》（和姊妹报《星期日电讯报》）、《泰晤士报》（和姊妹报《星期日泰晤士报》）、《独立报》（和姊妹报《星期日独立报》、《卫报》（和姊妹报《观察家报》）。前面两个是右翼保守主义的传统阵营。后面两个，前者号称中间派但其实偏左翼，而《卫报》则是不折不扣的左翼报纸。此外，去年独立报系还新推出了一份面向年轻人的《i》，也是属于中间偏左的报纸，这份报纸版式新颖，内容精悍，一推出就得到年轻人的欢迎。然后是中产阶级的报纸，《每日邮报》（和姊妹报《星期日邮报》）、《每日快报》（和姊妹报《星期日快报》）。他们不像前面的报纸那样严肃，但又不像正统小报那样只关心社会新闻、娱乐八卦和体育。不过他们都同属保守派的报纸，支持保守党。最后就是真正的小报（Tabloid）了。最著名的当属《太阳报》和姊妹报--星期日出报的《世界新闻报》，它们是英国销量最大的报纸，支持保守党。和《太阳报》风格相似的还有《每日镜报》、《星期日镜报》，它们支持工党阵营。此外还有《每日星报》、星期日《人物报》等等。我所在的地方，属于左翼（工党、自由民主党）的大本营。所以据我观察，在大报方面《卫报》和《观察家报》的销量最好，卫报报系的报纸尤其受到大学学生和知识分子的喜爱。但在《i》推出后，一部分人被分流到了这家报纸。小报方面，毫无疑问的，是《太阳报》独占鳌头。

英国情景剧Yes Prime Minister里面有一段对话，把英国各主流报纸的特点概括很经典：The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country;The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country;The Times is read by the people who actually do run the country;The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country;The Financial Times is read by people who own the country;The Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country;And The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.至于国内娱乐节目经常引用的The Sun太阳报－ Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big tits.

这个还真学过，只是泛泛的仅供参考。英国的报纸都是有鲜明的政治立场。唯一宣称没有任何党派的是≪独立报≫。除此之外，其它的报纸风格大抵是：≪泰晤士报≫和≪金融时报≫是右派，比较保守，而≪卫报≫是出了名的激进，偏左。举个例子说，08年3月我刚好在英国，当时的报纸都对发生在中国的那件大事进行了报道。其中卫报的报道基本是一边倒地“站在蛋的一边”（他们应该是全世界最希望中国政府倒台的报纸了吧），而泰晤士报的报道则比较中立，采访了亲历者，报道了无辜者汉人被伤害的事情，基本是“两边都有错”的立场。至于党派，他们会在选前根据政治诉求选择一党支持。比如之前泰晤士报和卫报都支持工党，后来泰晤士报不满工党作为转而支持保守党等。这些都属于英国的“大报”，属于中产们看的。英国还有很多蓝领阶级的小报，比如太阳报和每日邮报。它们就算分党派也没有人会注意的。就像大joy引用的那段经典段落：大家关心的只是太阳报今天的第三版有多大胸！手机上网打字忒累...
